Nope, it’s not a 9-1-1 call but rather a 9/11 call for help. You can help the Candler Oak stay lean and green on Saturday, September 11th at the September 11th National Day of Service, when you serve your community and help maintain this historic oak which is listed on the National Register of Historic Trees.
Volunteers are needed to help weed and mulch under the canopy. You can be involved by swinging by anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to get dirty with Patrick Grant, STF’s consulting arborist and owner of Consulting Arborist Services.
Bring hard tined rakes if you have them to help spread mulch, and a cool drink in case it’s hot. Be sure to wear clothing & shoes appropriate for the day and task. This task is appropriate for children and anyone who can lean over or sit down to weed, or use a rake to help spread mulch.
Volunteer and community service hours are always available. We hope to see you there!
